Privacy

This page is deliberately written outside the fiction. Nothing here is redacted, styled or in character.

The Directorate styling never applies to legal information. Account data is limited to an email address, a display name, a permanent Observer ID, a chosen profile image, consent records, access state and feedback. An uploaded profile image is kept in private storage and removed when it is replaced or the Observer record is deleted. Date of birth, address, phone number and location are never collected. Redaction is used as story content only and never obscures legal, navigation, privacy or accessibility information.

What is stored

Observer accounts and reader-edition records are stored through Supabase so that the service can authenticate you and maintain your access.

  • Your email address, used for passwordless sign-in and essential account messages.
  • Your display name, permanent Observer ID and chosen profile image (a supplied identifier or an image you upload).
  • Your account terms and optional bulletin-consent records.
  • Reader-edition access and personalised-PDF issuance records. No application or required chapter feedback is collected.
  • If Grant privately sends you a personalised document, your name and email address, the document reference, delivery date, link expiry and download history. The optional personal message is added to the PDF during generation and is not retained in the delivery record.
  • If you use the open Alex 24 reader-feedback page, your name, email address, free-text message and whether you permitted a personal reply. No Observer account or document code is required.

An uploaded profile image is reduced in size and kept in private storage. Only you and the service can retrieve it. Replacing the image removes the previous copy, and deleting your Observer record removes the stored image with it.

Transactional emails are delivered through Brevo. Optional Directorate bulletins are sent only when you have chosen to receive them; you can change that choice from your account page.

Privately delivered PDFs are held in non-public storage. Each email contains a unique link that expires after the 30, 60 or 90 day period selected by Grant; opening it creates only a short-lived download address. A downloaded PDF does not remotely expire. The link should not be forwarded because it is the key to that named recipient's copy.

Anonymous website measurement

Public pages use Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure aggregate page visits, referring websites and page performance. The service is excluded from sign-in, Observer records, personalised material, feedback questionnaires, Grant Control and private-document routes. Cloudflare states that its Web Analytics beacon does not collect or use visitors' personal data and does not access cookies or browser storage.

Two deliberate actions are counted separately: choosing to create an Observer account and following an Alex 24 link to Amazon. Each anonymous record contains only the action, its fixed general location on this site, the fixed Amazon destination where relevant, and the time. It contains no name, email, Observer ID, authentication state, IP address, browser or session identifier, raw address, query string, feedback or free text. These anonymous action records are retained for 13 months.

What is never collected

  • Date of birth, home address, phone number or location.
  • Your reading position, scroll depth, time spent in the Prologue, text selections or activity outside readalex24.com.

Removal

You can permanently delete your Observer record yourself from the Account and Privacy page. Deletion removes the account and its associated consent records, applications, access history, issued files and feedback. It cannot be undone; you would need to create a new record if you later wanted to participate again.

Open reader feedback is not tied to an account. You can use the Contact page to ask Grant to remove a message submitted through that form.
